This is what you come out after watching this movie. Three friends, Tashi (Imran) a journalist, Arup (Vir) a cartoonist and Nitin (Kunaal) a photojournalist live in a not so typical dirty house in the heart of delhi. Life seems okay till Tashi's moronny girlfriend (Shernazz) asks him to deliver a parcel.

Ironically, the parcel gets mixed with Nitin's stool samples that was to be delivered to the local don (Vijay ) and as expected, shit happens. Throughout the movie, you will be laughing at the comic punches especially the one in which the local don is involved. The film has got a really nice music which somehow enhances the whole screenplay and keeps you hooked on to your seats till the very end.

The dialogues and script gets funnier every minute and the use of foul languages makes it even more entertaining. Imran is amazingly good. But the real hero is Kunal and he has got some interesting punchlines.

I watched the movie twice and still looking forward to watch it for one more time. My favorite character is of Vijay Raaz who steals many scenes, with his superb portrayal of local goon, who does his dirty job in a calm,professional manner.

This film is sure to make you laugh your hats off. The final song by Aamir Khan is icing on the cake with his 80's style look which he lifts off effortlessly.

Overall I would like to end the review with one of my favorite quote

"Are Kismat ki hai kadki, roti kapda aur ladki tinho hi ...papad bele toh milein..man ka tanpura frustration mein bole ek hi raaz...bhaag bose dk bhaag...aanhi aayi hai....)"

Aamir khan rocks...awesome movie...raj kumar hirani is udoubtedly is the best director in bollywood at present...who knows how to keep audience glued to their seats and keep them entertained.

There are many movies which i like and many movies which do seem good when you watch them once but you tend to dislike them as time goes by. But there are some movies which you don't like at the start but you tend to like them afterwards so much that no matter how many times you see them you never get bored. There are some movies in which you store some of your past memories. There are some movies which relate so much to your life that you tend to make it a part of your Life.

Gajini vs Rab ne bana de jodi

It's been a long time since Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan both having back to back releases. It's definitely the battle between the two most hyped films Gajini, a remake of superhit Tamil film starring Aamir Khan and that of Rab ne bana de Jodi starring Shahrukh Khan. Rab ne Bana de Jodi is set to release on 12 Dec and Gajini a week after that.

Earlier this year, It was Akshay Kumar who ruled the Box office with his Record breaking Blockbuster movie Singh is King. It would be curious to watch which movie among the two Khans will be able to break that record.

Shahrukh 's Rab ne bana de Jodi is a love story whereas Gajini is an action drama . Both movies have two new heroines. Tamil superstar Asin is making a Bollywood entry with Gajini and a petite Anoushka shankar is making her debut with Rab ne bana de Jodi. The Promos of both the films look promising and exciting.

It's hard to tell which movie will rule the Box Office, one fact remains true that both the movies will definitely be adored by the Khan fans.

This movie based on Mumbai bomb blasts and the wrath of the common man associated with those blasts is a nice gripping movie. What to watch out for ..no there are no songs and it doesn't fall into typical Bollywood movie genre...but sheer acting performances of naseeruddin shah and anupam kher stands out and keeps the movie watchable till the end. First Mumbai meri Jaan and then Wednesday ..two brilliant movies..must watch for all..especially for Mumbaikars..)

This movie's theme is somewhat different than other typical bollywood movies based on 4 guys and their dream to be big with "Magic" Rock Band and how things don't go as planned and how they separate and finally how they unite after 1o years to give their Last stage performance. overall nice movie to watch if u like Rock music though....as the movie is based on Rock band Magic.....)

I always like films made on love stories with lots of emotion and Drama ... and this film falls in this genre.. the film is good and watchable if you like such kinds of movies...THings to watch out for.....the locations....switzerland...sydney ...italy ...marvellous.... good to watch... the songs are catchy and well choreographed..... and of course deepika and ranbir...)

After a long time finally something good to watch...)
didn't expect it though... woh ranjore ka rathore hai ...)
Imran Khan acted well ... nice to see the chemistry between the two leading couples
But hats off to Abbas Tyrewala...nice direction and the screenplay is pretty sleek..).

The story begins with .... well that's how the movie begins ... and trust me ... it gave the movie quite a different look .... the airport backdrop is really good and all the supporting actors have all acted well.....especially meghana and aditi's brother. The sensitive scenes are well handled ... and never seemed overdramatised. It seems that Aamir khan has added his perfectionist touch to this movie as well. Hats off to him ... No matter how many people try to make fun of him ... he definitely rules especially when it comes to making good film. Its hard to say how much business this film will do. One thing is for sure ...this film is a hit.

To begin with i never liked kareena before and i also don't like her in personal life but i have to admit so far this is the best performance given by kareena till date and this is the first time that i actually liked watching kareena kapoor onscreen.similar thing was with Shahid i nver considerd him as an actor but a good looking boy with good dancing skills. But he gave a pretty decent performance especially in the first half.

Jab we met is a romantic love story of Aditya and Geet. The film has really good dialogues and narration with brilliant screenplay. It always keeps you guessing. Director Imitiaz ali should be applauded for stretching such beautiful Characters. I really liked is idea of keeping the best song at the end of the picture. He did it Socha na tha.

All and a nice movie and nice chemistry between Shahid and Kareena,their one of the best so far.

Finally saregamapa ends with Aneek as winner . No i won't put any of his videos as i don't like him as a singer and there has been some fixing, i really don't know but raja was leading and all of a sudden aneek name pops out in the last few days as the one with leading votes.Any way the show is ended, finally no more himesh and his crap talk. "Mere sare fans ko mein Himesh ki koi bhi film,Show nahi dekhne ki gujarish karoonga" ...:)

Poonam is out

Poonam will be out this time. Another good singer eliminated. I really was hoping to see her in the finals. For me both Amanat and Poonam deserved to be in the finals. I really don't think Aneek should win, he is too overhyped and his singing lacks maturity. Mussarat and Raja are two brilliant singers but they both lack versatility and both have god gifted high pitch voice, which is in fact very rare and they are definitely beyond any comparision or competition.
If i would have to choose the winner i would given it as a tie between Amanat and Poonam, both are equally versatile and can sing both classical as well as peppy numbers quite beautifully. Here are their performances which i liked:

1. Kuhu kuhu bole ...by poonam yadav sadly her last performance in saregamapa

2. Ni mi samajh gayi - Taal

Comedies are always in vogue in Bollywood . Hey Baby somewhat falls into this category.This movie created a lot of hype, with promising promos and Posters. The film music was also quite popular before its release and it somehow added up to the expectations. So how was the film ? ..well the film starts with a bang but then the tempo suddenly slows down with common Baby tantrums in the first half. And in the second half the theme of the movie changes from comedy to emotional drama suddenly by the entry of the Heroine.

Here's a short glimpse :
The movie revolves around three bachelors Arush(Akshay Kumar), Tanmay(Ritiesh Deshmukh) and Ali (Fardeen Khan) who’re living in Sydney having the time of their lives playing the fields and partying it up. However life takes a turn when a little baby girl gets left on their doorstep. Despite knowing a thing or two about women, this little girl is one they can’t control. The baby changes their lives completely as their entire lives start revolving around it with it’s 2 hour feeding times, crying, and off course diaper changing. Soon the bachelors start feeling like dads, and they can’t stand away from the little wonder, and at that moment the girls mother Esha (Vidya Balan) enters claiming her baby back.

The movie entertains you in bits and pieces .The first half is quite boring, although the heroes try to make it funny with their crappy jokes. The second half is all emotional drama brilliantly protrayed by the heroine Vidya Balan. Director Sajid Khan had made his debut with this film and considering his first film, does deserve some applaud. Shankar Ehsaan & Loy’s music is quite catchy, especially the title song and the song in which Shahrukh makes a brief cameo. Boman Irani's funny expressions are always a fun to watch onscreen , he makes some superb comic gestures during the slow taxi drive and they are quite a fun to watch. Fardeen trying to imitate amitabh's role in chupke chupke is a complete nono. Akshay plays his character well and nice to see him not overacting in emotional scenes :) The central character of the movie, the small baby looks cute and is really adorable and it shares some really nice expressions on screen.

overall just see the start song and then directly jump to second half :)

Food in Berlin

During first few months i never used to cook and used to rely mostly on fast foods and snacks.
One thing i used to eat a lot was Turkish Döner. It's like a huge sandwich with chicken pieces or beef pieces depends on what u order along with salad and sauce. At first it used to taste really good and used to fill my stomach full but afterwards i somehow got bored of the taste . I started to search for somehting else.

Then after a while i got used to cooking food and stopped eating outside food for a while. But occasionally i use to have some on weekends or Holidays. One more thing which i started getting used to, was bread and cheese. Here u get all sorts of different varieties of cheese with different Fat percentages. Earlier i hated Bread and cheese but after sometime i somehow liked it. It was opposite of Döner.

Then there is another fast food item which is quite popular among germans i.e.Brat würst. It's basically pork minced in Rolls and then eaten along with Bread, similar to Hot Dog. At first u hate it because it has got some weird smell but after sometime u like it and thereafter u tend to dislike it :)

I never used to like pizzas in India. And it was the same reason why i used to avoid Pizzas here . But there is one Italien place, near nollendorfplatz, which makes some really nice pizzzas. I somehow got hooked on to it. Its quite different from what i had in India and it's quite delicious too.

There are also lots of Indian joints where u can get Indian food and it is quite famous among germans especially Butter Chicken and Chicken Curry. But nothing tastes better than Home made chicken, esp made by my friend s... :)

But after sometime u learn to cook by yourself. As u can't afford to eat outside everytime . Maybe u can afford but u tend to get bored afterwards. I really hate nowadays the food i get at Humboldt Mensa Canteen. It is quite Boring and tastes always the same and not at all spicy. Its quite weird to see people eating Boiled potato,along with one piece of chicken or schwein and followed by either salat or pudding. U get a balanced diet, u get proteins by chicken or schwein steaks, Carbohydrates from Potato and fibres from salat.Overall it is a Balanced Diet. But what about taste ? . Doesn't it really matter ?

Life in Berlin

It's been quite a journey in Berlin full of ups and downs.

First few months were quite challenging. It took me a while to adjust and adapt to the weather, food and clothing. Thereafter i was exposed to different culture shocks, i think the first was during the christmas party, when i saw two guys kissing for the first time in my life with the latter being my class colleague ;;;;)))

I learned a lot after coming to Berlin. I learned how to be patient enough to tolerate my highly hyperactive latin american spanish speaking friends and not very active chinese friends. I learned, how to work in intercultural groups, learned to speak German, which i was very bad at, when i was in India.

I got the oppurtunity to interact between people of different cultures , got to meet different people from different parts of the world esp from China, Taiwan , Columbia, Mexico, Canada , Venezuala, Bulgaria, Poland and of course Germans. Regarding Germans, they are quite disciplined and professional when compared to Indians. They are not very open and emotional if u compare them to latin americans or indians .

Berlin as a city is quite multi-culti, it has got really nice places to see , for eg - Reichstag, Checkpoint charlie, Brandenburger Tor, Postdamer platz, Wannsee....But one thing i really liked about Berlin is its night life. It's quite different altogether and u would definitely not find it anywhere in Germany. It's very lively energetic and vivacious and it rocks :)

Although i am not a habitual Party-goer but i was lucky enough to get some glimpse of it.

Harry Potter - Deathly Hallows Book review

warning - spoilers ahead please do not read this article if u haven't finished reading the book.

Harry potter and the deathly hallows : Great start - but end not so convincing

The Book starts with a Bang, and keeps u engrossed but the ending is made quite typical and it leaves u unsatisfied. i didnt like the way Voldemort made to give in so easily there had to be some really good fight, Also somepart i could not digest since he is voldemort he can easily detect whether the person is impersonating death and can easily detect lies.

Also how come neville land with the gry sword is also not clear, so is the sudden arrival of giants. The Dumbledore family story angle is also far stretched. I think this time rowling just wanted to finish the saga and not taken her time to make it more convincing as her earlier books. What about Rita skeeter what happens to her what happens to umbridge. also everything else wouldn't have mattered if the end was proper. But overall the book is good with very gripping start and very plausible reasoning regarding Dumbledore s action.

I think first harry was supposed to die in the end but afterwards due to fan pressure, may be the author retracted her steps.

Overal nice book to read once.

Saregamapa - no music just entertainment

There was a time when everyone in my family used to sit around and wait for saregama show to come on air. It was always a treat to hear budding new singers trying to prove their mettle in different forms of singing be it classical , non classical , filmy , bhajan , pop , folk.

There used to different kinds of rounds to test their versatility. for eg, i still remember there was this "Change of scale" round introduced, in which the contestant had to sing the song on a different scale. I still remember sanjeevini, still not able to clear that round, although she had a melodious and mesmerizing voice.At that time the contestant was required to be trained in music and they could atleast manage to get the sur right.

But if u compare the latest saregamapa show i would say it is a complete nightmare to watch the contestants screaming through their belly,trying to imitate their judges ,forget tal, not even getting their sur right , which is considered to be the base of singing.This series is touted to be world challenge series. I don't think the world would accept such croony singers.

At first it seemed that this time it would be a fun to watch since the mahajudge concept was introduced, atleast the judgement could be rest assured to be right but i don't know why lately it was stopped and again began the same old indian idol concept of bringing in celebrity judge who i can guarantee don't know anything about sur and taal. (They just know how to take off the shirt and dance like a five year old child).But most of the them either come to promote their film or maintain their screen presence.

Then about the fairness of judgement , i was really amazed when a girl from outside india who is being touted as next indian shakira ( infact she is nowhere compared to shakira if u consider her figure and shape and looks, forget about singing that is even worse than male version of shakira ) getting full marks from all the 3 judges . I mean this is open partiality and no one is complaining .

I remember when asha bhosale was the judge , she criticized her very badly as she was horrible singer. she must work hard on her singing and not just listen to false praises which the judges shower over her generously. It's like fame gurukul where qazi was praised for his antiques and croonies rather than singing.

I seriously question the judgement ability. I mean there is one judge who accidently also sings giving out full marks to every contestant just because his mentor has come as a guest. Then there is one judge who was a terrible music director , don't know a thing about music , had copied most of western tunes, gives out same marks as the celebrity guest tells him to give.

Moral of the story it is all about entertainment people don't want boring stuff they need some fun and excitement which i am sure the judges are pretty much adept of generating . They don't care whether the person is in sur or out of sur as long as he removes his shirt and provides entertainment , everyone will love to watch his antiques.

Gone are the days when there was still hope that atleast there will be some good music imbibed into the new generation, atleast they will be able to get the glimpse of real indian music which is mostly classical based.That was possible on saregama ,before gajendra singh, the original mastermind of saregama left the show, now saregamapa is all about money and TRP ratings.

Harry Potter 5 movie review

Harry potter and the order of pheonix

Once again it's Harry Potter time. Every time when it comes to Harry potter there are huge expectations surrounding the movie. There is a lot of hype generated and there is always a lot of buzz in the Market.This time i couldn't go for first day preview show but eventually caught up with the movie. So how was it ? asked my friend and i gave him my wry smile ;)

Frankly speaking,i came out disappointed, the movie is too hurried in order to fit in 2 and half hours schedule. The characters are not properly sketched and film like its previous movies lack seriously in narrative screenplay. Kreacher is missing, i mean he is supposed to play a crucial part in deceiving Harry potter. Luna lovegood is supposed to be a weirdo but she acts like she is playing a ghost in a child horror film. Ginny hardly speaks and neville is supposed to play a key part , poor chap didn't get much to do , Fred. and george, i mean the weasley brothers don't just burst fire crackers when they leave ;) and what about Cho Chang, was she used for just a kiss :)

This is what happens when u read the book and go on to watch the movie. But atleast i got the things which were going on in the movie rather than sleeping through the movie like my friend X, who didn't read the book and couldn't understand a thing what was going on and asked me "why the hell did only sirius black got killed by the sparks and not others surrounding him";)

I told him to read the books which are a lot better than the harry potter movies which i have seen until now. I am waiting for the 7th book though, I hope, i am not disappointed with the end.:(

Spidey returns

Spiderman returns ! This time with his dark side.

Spiderman 3 smashed box office records with 148 million dollars in its first 3 days of its trade itself. So what's so special in the sequel.

Well , there are lot of things first one it is full of emotions . It makes you cry , it makes you laugh. It has also introduced some new characters and some interesting twists in the plot.But overall film is good It keeps you seated till the end. But if you are expecting mind blowing action sequences and stunts then you will be in for a surprise as the director has given emotions his first priority as it has been the theme in all other previous spidey sequel too.

I liked tobey's performance he lives up to the role he has potrayed as a spiderman also when he is supposed to potray the dark side he does that exceedingly well, Kirsten has played her part well . I wonder whether there will be one more sequel. Till then enjoy the web....

Shahrukh Khan dons the robes of Amitabh Bachahan in the remake of his superhit movie Don. Will Shahrukh live up to the expectations of earlier Don? Well the music of don is out and the tracks are nice. Shahrukh has lend his voice to the ephemeral - Khaike pan banaras wala … track. This film is supposed to be the next big flick after lage raho... let's keep our fingers crossed and hope farhaan doesn't disappoint us

yup that 's what it's called in short.
The most awaited magnum opus has got mixed reviews with some people givin thumbs up while other's were let down by the rona dhona and emotions.
It's the EKta Kapoor Serial drawn on a large scale and picture with ending stretched like a rubber.
The film revolves around a sensitive issue but but but why ?
that's what i ask karan it's okay to mature but u can mature in different ways and with different scripts too . everything seems so similar to his other films that u don't find anything new in terms of costumes, dance sequences, locations and even dialogues are clique.
Overall it's good movie for those who like ekta kapoor serials and who just love watching shahrukh.
But the real show stealer is Amitabh as the super dad . So one more filmfare booked for this evergreen superhero whose charisma is enough to draw hordes inside the theatre.
The film will still do well purely on stardom.

Movie Review - Fanaa

This is the third movie in my list which has also turned out to be a dud. I guess bollywood will never learn to be creative and still go in for same old crap formula movies. Even yash chopra movies are churning out the same old emotional rona dhona love story theme with different backdrop. This time its kashmir backdrop with terrorism as theme. It is nice to see kajol back and aamir is as brilliant as always. But the suprise factor is young rihaan who looks so cute and has also acted well.

First half good second half boring.This is what many of my friends say. Even I agree to that . The movie could have been better.

for eg when amir khan's identity is revealed before interval it could have been stretched out with more missions ( the bangkok mission). Even the climax has been hurriedly done. Tabu looks enigmatic as ever Even Shiney Ahuja who acted brilliantly in gangster is wasted surely he could be more utilised, I guess kunal kohli had a deadline for completing the film .
All in all a definite movie to skip.

This is fact no point arguing. How many times have we seen that happening in bus, train when that poor nice guy offers his seat to a beautiful girl and in turn gets a thenga in return. No seriously that's the fact nicety in certain ways always makes the person end up last in love, in career, in family .
Even consider in Work how many times a person walks away with promotion while the nice and helpful guy who aways helped that promoted guy gets a thenga .

Nicety doesn't help it just helps to attain goodwill and favour.

So be unfriendly and unhelpful and stop trying to offer u r seat to a cute lady standing in front of u. Ask whether she would do the same when u are desperately in need of that seat.

I agree to a certain extent that being nice end up being in the last place but in the long run u definetly reach the top. Consider in the film harry potter and the goblet of fire where harry tried to be nice and saved both fleur's sister and ron but eventually walked away with the triwizard cup. So all salman khan fans are in for a double treat first saawan ( the avoidable disaster) and then immediately this movie .

The soundtrack is out and the aashiqui video is already a hit.Its a murder suspense thriller and is directed by Abbas-Mastan. So should i say more. It's releasing on 5 May. Must watch for all

3. Fanaa

Aamir Khan Movie Need i say more ...

Its a Yash raj movie so another fantabulous soundtrack expected. The film is based on a serious theme with aamir khan playing rehan with kajol (following on rani 'black' footsteps) playing zooni a blind character. So will aamir khan die in this movie too . Considering his earlier two released film he died at end. The plot probably revolves around terrorism. It is slated for may 26 release

OBLIVION is finally released

At last finally the long wait is over. On march 20 ' Oblivion 'was officially released . It is one of the most most awaited role playing game ever . After the previous sucess of Morrowind 'Bethesda Softworks LLC, has finally released their next game " Oblivion" . Though it is not yet available in india Alas ! I guess sumya , yogya and me will have to wait more. Hope to see it released in india soon.

OBlivion requires nvidia ForceWare 84.25 in order to fully unleash its potential. As well as a good graphics card , not a decent just plain vanilla one, let's see if it is atleast playable on my puny graphics card.

The storyline is similar in line to Morrowind with fantastic addons and extra features.

No i won't add any spoilers here those who have played morrowind will defenitely know the plot.

Awesome cricket

No I m not talking about the vapid india - england test match. But the mindblowing one day match between Australia and South africa.

How many of u might have imagined a score of 434 in a one day match . Unbelievable! ya it is. What is more unbelievable is that the other team chasing that score and winning it. Impossible yup but it is what was what made possible by gibbs with his awesome batting display with 21 fours and 7 sixes reaching a total of 175 in just 111 balls. The match was sensaational with nail biting finish in the end.

2 runs were required of 3 balls in the last over, with only one wicket remaining and with Bret lee bowling. Terrific u could see the tension spread across the whole dressing room as well in the bowler's tense face. Boucher and ntini kept their cool and eventually gave proteas their much awaited series win over australia.

Earlier pointing displayed some marvellous shot display hitting 9 sixes and 13 fours scoring 164 of 105 balls. He was well supported by katich who scored 79 . Such kind of intense cricket was seen after a long time and boy was i pleased to see that on a sunday evening.

Movie review

How many times after watching this movie u would have said" wow,I wish I had a wardrobe which would take me to a magical world called narnia."

The movie is engrossing till the very end. well i haven't read the book by CS Lewis but the film is brilliant in all departments be it acting, screenplay,visual effects, music. The soundtrack of the movie is awesome especially the evacuating london track . Acting wise Lucy Pevensie and the white witch are magnificient.

I really liked the way lucy said " I am not a Dwarf I m a girl and actually I am the tallest one in my whole class".

The movie begins slowly but runs at a steady pace afterwards. It is the second half which keeps you hooked on to u r seats. The film's emotional part is brilliantly handled. The film reminds you of the journey of frodo baggins but it is smaller in magnitude and in no way compared to lord of the rings. Even if u compare the war scene with lor u will be disapointed. But the film really scores in the cinematography, acting and music department supported by lucid screenplay.

I am definitely going to watch the movie one more time . Are u ???

RANG DE - Bhangra rocks

At last Rakesh Omprakash Mehra can sit back at home relaxed with a cup of coffee basking in the sucess of his second film as the film is running sucessfully all over.

Learning from his previous debacle AKS , he has certainly taken arduous effort towards screenplay. The film definitely makes u think as well as entertain simultaneously. One of the greatest thing to appreciate is that the director has been able to blend the two eras effectively without making the movie lose pace or its charm . Mind boggling performances from all espeecially dj(aamir), sue(Alice Payton), karan(siddharth). But i would have liked the film more, if the second half could have been made more peppier rather going the filmi formula type. All n all a brilliant movie made till now.

But the point is can the movie be able to reverse the "Brain Drain syndrome" currently predominant in today's youth. Can this film instill some sense of patriotism in today's yuva generation, who fly away to US even before getting their final degree.

Yup one more yashraj movie is releasing next week.

N n N is already touted as the biggest porn flick. No I m just joking the film has 21 kisses. Yes that’s true the film is rumored to have 21 kisses, good for the front benchers I guess.

The film’s storyline is reverse of DDLG where instead of heroine, the hero wants to enjoy his bachelorhood before tying the knot. The film’s title song looks catchy but the other songs looks banal. Uday looks more refined than his earlier dhoom and tanisha looks as bubbly as ever. But can Uday chopra pull the film off single handedly? Only time will tell, let’s wait and see.

Movie Review Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire

Finally i was able to spare some time for this movie . Like all harry potter fans, i too, never miss any harry potter movie and watch the movie in first week itself, but some important things prevented me from watching this movie in the first week.

The Movie starts with a shrilling voice of voldemort followed by the deadly hiss of nagini ( the giant snake). The Film is a delight to watch especially the stadium scene, Triwizard tournaments , yule ball , voldemort and harry potter 's fighting duell scene and so on....

One of the best harry potter movie of all four. But i would have loved to see the whole quidditch world cup along with a decent ending not the choppy one as shown and i would have really admired if the director had made the movie at a rather medium pace i mean the film hardly gives u time to think and digest the facts.

Cho chang looks stunning and so is cedric. i think victor krum should have been given some dialogues as he hardly speaks in the whole film . Regarding Fleur delacor i think she should have been more attractive as she hardly fails to draw attention. Madame Maxime looks old for hagrid (a serious mismatch). Professor Moody's character is well shaped and also performed well. Dumbledore has tried to be more serious this time and is better than in POA ( harry potter's earlier film). Here's what critics have to say:

The acting of the adult cast is, of course, exemplary as always. Alan Rickman's Snape may only have had four or so scenes but he definitely made his presences known while Maggie Smith really captured the essence of McGonagall. Many people do miss Richard Harris' Dumbledore but I found that Michael Gambon has done an excellent job of moulding the role to make it his own. In GoF, Dumbledore feels very human in the way he carries the weight of the wizarding world on his shoulders and though he struggles at times, his concern for his pupils is paramount. I finally felt the close rapport between Dumbledore and Harry in this film that was missing in the previous three HP flicks. However, the prize has to go to Brian Gleeson for his scene-stealing depiction of Mad-Eye Moody. Gleeson clearly enjoyed illustrating Moody's dangerous, feral edge.

Nevertheless, the film did lose some points on a few issues for e.g Rita Skeeter and how hermoine traps her, Quidditch world cup i would have loved to see the whole matches played. Although most of the young cast have expanded their acting skills as they have gone on, Emma Watson is waning. She has a tendency of over-enunciating her lines and being too melodramatic, which worked in 'The Philosopher's Stone' when Hermione was condescending and childishly bossy, but is annoying by this point. She spent most of the film sounding as if she was on the verge of tears, even in scenes which were not remotely sad or upsetting. There was also a choppy feel to the film, as if Kloves ( the scriptwriter) struggled to properly condense the book into a two-hour film. Those who haven't read the books will have missed quite a bit and those who have read the books will feel the film is very rushed.

All in all a great movie to watch for all harry potter fans . Although i would like to add that those who have not read the book will find the movie too fast and will hardly be able to understand the plot. So i would better recommend reading the book before watching the film.

How to BELL THE CAT -

Arun "PsychoDementia" Jagannathan's article on how to take a consultant's approach at belling the CAT With about a month or so to go, the question that junta is asking at this point is not "Do I have it in me to crack CAT?" as much as "Do I have it in me to crack me in crack CAT in a month?" Now let us presume that you present your problem to a management consultant like say McKinsey, what would they come up with? Remember they would give you only strategic advice, no actual implementation level micromanagement. Here are a few pointers that could actually turn up in their analysis report:

(1) Don't boil the ocean

Simply put, don't try to do something unimaginably huge (boil the ocean) to bring results that are not proportionate (get salt). This ways you will just cause more anguish when you realize half way through that the latent point of boiling for the ocean is pretty huge. Another way to put it is: Work smart, not hard. Try to come up with a list of possible tasks for CAT and try figuring out what the amount of effort required to do it is. At the end of it, you can either lessen the effort or cross it out completely. Here is an example. A lot of you may be wondering if it is really wise to "do" the word-list. Go through a realistic run of where you are. This is a good time to go through the kind of words given over the last 4 years (over which CAT has kind of streamlined the questions) and figure if you really need to go through those huge word-lists. Amazingly at the end of the exercise, you might want to do away with it all together, or go through a selective portion just to ramp up your rusted skills. (For example, you might decide to do only the "High Frequency" words from Barron's GRE.)

(2) Pluck the low-hanging fruits first

An important point that many students don't realize at this juncture, due to immense pressure, is that it makes more sense for one to consolidate what he/she knows, rather than make an immature attempt to try learning everything. Do not attempt anything that is difficult. I have seen many students coming to me at the nth moment asking if they should be attempting "Permutation Combination". My simple answer is - If you have not done it in your schooling, if you have not done it in college, if you have not done it through out your CAT prep so far, then the chances that on November 21st the neurons in your brain actually go into a synaptical surge and the answer will plop in front of you are .........well, to be frank - quite bleak! Rather I would strengthen topics I know well - percentages, profit-loss, mensuration etc.On the flip side, is it wise to be completely ignorant about these topics? The answer is a resounding NO!!!! I strongly suggest you take out some time (a few hours perhaps from an otherwise eventful study schedule) for each of these dreaded topics and figure out which are the formulae and basic types of problem. The test-setters of the more diabolic variety are known to sneak in a few deceptively. Most test-takers are blissfully unaware of this till the coaching institutes print a bold "SITTER" next to that question a day after the CAT and the cutoff seems all the more further away. Better safe than sorry!

(3) Think out of the box

Edward De Bono once famously remarked "An expert is someone who has succeeded in making decisions and judgments simpler through knowing what to pay attention to and what to ignore."Try to ensure that whatever you do from now on is not something that is mechanical or by rote, but something that involves you actively in the process. So take up each problem and try figuring out stuff like - can it work with some variation? How can anyone twist this problem? Is there a simpler way of doing this? How I can design a problem for someone along these lines? etc. etc. In short - try to "internalize" the problem you are solving.A classic example is the mock CATs you have taken so far. Even for those questions which have helped you inch towards the elusive cut-offs - try to figure which were ill-considered attempts. I have seen many instances in the past when my reason for choosing a correct answer was preposterous to say the least (I have, in good humor and on occasions, picked up answers because, from among others, it "sounded" correct!) and yet managed to get them right. Try to sit and figure if the same problem has a better way of doing it.

(4) Peel the onion

Layer by layer......one thing at a time
Let us presume you have a problem with reading large data in DI. In short, number crunching is not exactly one of your virtues, (normally these are areas you would not touch with a ten-foot pole!), yet is a necessary evil which cannot be avoided (like say P&C). We need to figure out how best to deal with this. Take a couple of the mocks you have taken and try figuring out how you have done in it. See what is it that actually stopped you from getting in the top percentile. "I suck at numbers" is an answer which will neither aid your morale nor help you analyze yourself better. Be more objective and tough. Speed? Bad at approximation? The questions were too ambiguous? Whatever the reasons - try making a list of those things. Now instead of racking your brain alone over what can be done for that, speak to someone at your institute. Better still, catch a friend/mentor who has "been there and done that" for his/her insights on what can be done to help bridge this gap. Remember that you may also use the "boiling the ocean" principle here and remove any ideas of indulging in frivolous activities like learning Vedic mathematics at this point.

(5) Pareto's principle:

The 80/20 rule. Some of the variations are :

20% of the time goes in doing 80% of the tasks, 20% of the business brings 80% of the revenue,20% of the world controls 80% of the money etc. The point here is: Try to figure which is the 80% that is bringing you the marks and focus on that. I read somewhere what one of the CAT 2003 100%iler had written - he had wanted to maximize on Verbal and tried to get cutoff in quant. And sure he maximized in Verbal with a score of 45 (and just around 17.5 in QA)!! There is no use spending all 1hour in quant and getting 2 marks more than the cutoff and spending 20mins in verbal and get barely get the cutoff.

(6) Parkinson's Law

The law states - "Work expands to fill the time available to do it"

I think the scourge of every self-respecting graduate is doing a "night-out" to write that college journal a day before the submission. And we carry this habit with us to the work place too. Just look around you it keeps happening all the time - software project, advertising campaigns, government decisions - you name it! So is it with CAT. Set yourself challenging schedules and stick to it. Tell yourself you are going to analyze those dreaded mock cats which have been piling on a corner for the last few months. Sounds impossible right? But as the Nike ad says "Just do it!" Even if you are not able to complete it, so be it, at the least you started and finished in a go. Keep challenging yourself; try sneaking out every last minute you have to get something done. Do those distasteful tables when you are having your smoke after lunch. Do those obnoxious RC practices when you are reading the morning newspaper. And remember you cannot really challenge yourself unless you have a hard target to achieve.

(7) The fish cannot bat and I cannot swim

Words from Boycott could not be truer in the CAT perspective. Realize what your areas of strength and areas of weaknesses are. But still at the end of the day there will be the odd ball "stud" who licks the field clean. So in your approach you would be wise if you remember to steer clear of any ego-issues. Don't try tackling that extra toughie DI problem set which goes into 3rd decimals of approximation or the arcane RC passage on Madhubani paintings just because you are out there trying to prove you too are one. The point in case is that if you were one, you would not have been struggling.

Last year there was this guy in IIT Chennai. He was a math and physics Olympiad with an IIT-JEE AIR of 12. He ended up with a 100%ile (and a score of 103 in CAT 2003!). He went on to join IIM-B. Realize that there are always going to be guys like this. Instead of worrying about them, realize that at the most there are going to be around 100 odd guys like this. Forget about them. Think about the 1100 others who are vying for the same seat as you. And if you are really bothered about such guys, then stock your fridge with some cold beer!

(8) Fail to plan then you plan to fail

Put in excruciating detail into the planning/scoping work before you start out. Make sure every waking hour is accounted for. Doesn't mean you have to go overboard and start planning to account for each minute. Rather, a detailed account of how you are going to spend time over the next month. A caveat to the fore-mentioned point. At times we do things just because it was in the original plan. Make sure your plan is flexible. If a week before CAT you figure that doing more practice in RC is going to pay off, so be it!! But make sure you constantly check your plan and ask "Is it the right thing to do?" rather than "Am I doing it correctly?"

Some words of wisdom that I keep telling myself everyday, CAT or no CAT. "The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. "

At the end of the day it is a just an exam. Nothing more. Nothing less. No reason why you should treat it differently. No reason why you should worry more. No reason why you should not think about other things in life. No reason why you should not keep your cool. If you were expecting a list of dos and don'ts I am afraid I might have disappointed you. But this is not meant to serve as one in the first place - the institutes are already doing a pretty good job of that. What I have done is tried summarizing a few points (which I believe are neither mutually exclusive nor collectively exhaustive) to give you a checklist against which you can verify the usefulness of everything that you would be doing from now on.

Book Preview - One night @ the call center - by chetan bhagat

Phew! just finished reading the last page. If u have read his earlier work(Five Point Someone) then i am sure u will like this book . This time chetan exposes the baddy call centre world with five protagonists instead of three (as in his earlier work) and the problems faced by them and how one phone call of god change their attitude towards life. First time chetan has tried to deliver a message through his book. i won't divulge into much detail though, but the book is thoroughly enjoyable .

About my favourite character it has to be shyam, as like chetan even i also somehow am able to relate to him in some ways not all. That's it go grab u r copy now.

Movie Review - Truth about Love

Truth about Love starring Jennifer love Hewitt and only Jennifer love Hewitt (no other actors are worth mentionable).

The Film begins sullenly and progresses in a dull , bland, insipid ,vapid, monotonous manner. With nothing worth to mention. Same old gisha pita formula, wife suspecting her husband of licentious behavior and in order to catch him red- handed dissembles herself as a whore. Eventually exposing her husband's adultery in local newspaper. There is one more character in this film, the real hero, reticent silent lover who expresses his feelings only at the end when he is leaving her, oh so innovative and then the same DDLG ending train sequence copied straight from a bolly-wood movie. Wow! Now we should stop criticising bollywood movies for plagiarising scripts from hollywood movies .

This film is all about jennifer love. Wow! She looks quite stunning , so if u r a Jennifer fan like me then u will not be disappointed as she is there from start to end and looks quite charming, both in the role of alice and the mysterious phone sex girl. As for Mistry who plays the role of her husband does not suit the role, so is scott as the main hero. All and all a boring movie.

Look The Elephants are Fleeing !

"Papa could u please change the channel i wanna watch Takeshi's castle?", the boy asked his dad pleadingly.

"Look beta, see the elephants are fleeing", his dad said switching on to CNBC quite placidly.

"But i don't see any elephants, where are they and why are they fleeing?" his eight year old son asked again annoyingly.

What would his poor dad answer. He had just lost his one month's earning in stock market thanks to the sudden fleeing of the elephants and the already burgeoning negative rally.

"The market breadth looks choppy and the whole market sentiment is negative", reported the Tvnews anchor.

Wednesday the 19 th ( oct) saw a remarkable pattern not seen for atleast 3 months on the sensex. The Bse sensex started all of a sudden 150 points below the previous day closing with heavy declines as compared to advances .

But this was bound to happen looking at the way the sensex had rallied past 8000 mark and then 8500 mark, correction was long overdue. Admittedly the way the media had hyped the sensex reaching 8000 mark and then 8500 mark, there was sudden rush in buying of stocks, (who were already overvalued & enjoying high P/E ratios), by the ingenuous retail investor who had been given false promises , with some analysts even predicting 9000 mark .

Long before the globalisation days, the sensex was ruled by the Bulls and the Bears but lately there had been a new entrant " The elephants (The FII's)" and when they arrive they arrive in groups and when they leave they leave in groups . The FII's were the real reason behind the ongoing Bull Run for the past few months with sensex crossing one boundary to another. Further with the weakening of rupee vs dollar led to huge profit booking by the FII's. This was the main reason behind the sensex falling back bel0w 8000 levels .

Fortunately Today some strength was seen in the market with some help from the strenghtening of the rupee. Had the rupee fallen below its 6 months level then there would certainly been some amount of dip. But how long will the sensex sustain above 8000 mark with Companies reporting disappointing quarters and lacklustre performance way below market expectations . Is the great Indian Story all fissed out . Only time will tell. One thing is for certain is that the foreign institutional investors (FII's) will continue to dominate the sensex . For now let's wait and watch the Great Indian Tragedy Show as pointed by some analyst.

I looked back and saw her and just gave her a slight smile.

If someone else had uttered those words then i would certainly be perplexed but there she was staring at me with a slight gleam in her blue eyes . She was known for her conundrums and i definitely knew that there was something fishy with the term rape. I scratched my head what did i do yesterday .... aargh! i emailed her about the halycon days i spent in one of the most exotic island faraway from her. But that cannot be termed as rape . Then it suddenly it striked me that she was preparing for GRE and it had to be related to that somehow. So once again i began to ponder on the word RAPE . Can it be Rash Arrogant Presumptous Email . I assumed it might be somewhat related to arrogance because i knew what i had written in my email.

So i said sarcastically " So what i rape u everyday!

I said "RAPE stands for Rash Arrogant Presumptous Email."

" Wrong again my wise ingenuous nincompoop"

"So what does that mean" i asked piquantly.

" Ravishing Alluring Pleasurable Email "

" What! Did u like my rape" i asked sarcastically.

" Stop digressing and hand over 1000 bucks "

" For what?" i quivered.

" You lost the turf, so u have to pay, so fill me in" she replied bluntly.

" Can i make a deal instead of 1000 bucks can i take u on a Date "

Movie Review - Transporter-2

Oh no! Not another Mithun movie!

( For all those who don't know the term Mithun . Mithun movies are those in which the hero usually Mithun takes on 20 to 25 villians simultaneously, sometimes even more than that and fights single handedly and saves the heroine or her kid from all the villians and goondas. Ironically there is one incident which i would like to narratein one of his movies, there was one scene in which Mithun not only dodges bullets thrown at him but also catches them with his naked hand and throws them again without any pistol towards the hoodlums and Behold! they drop dead instantly. u can say that the movie Matrix copied the first part from our very own Mithun movies, just joking. )

The movie begins with a promising start but again slumbers down to utter crap with a flimsy storyline of one man against all evils, hunting down and bashing up all the baddies on land , in air and even under water. The story line is the same extortion, kidnapping, deadly virus spread and how only hero knows about it and how he saves the world from disaster .

Admittedly i liked the Transporter 1, as it was far better compared to this one. Why do all the sequels turn out bad ? There is nothing worth mentionable.

Anyways this movie is for all those who like Mithun movies, others can skip this movie for a nice little sleep.

Actually the title track is awesome after listening to it one wants to listen to it again and again. The second track "dil keh raha hai" is also catchy. Although the fate of the movie depends upon the script and narration, the music of this movie is bound to be next chartbuster.

Himmesh Reshammiya is definitely rocking nowadays . After Aashiq banaya aapne now Kyun ki. I think he is definitely going to win this year's Filmfare.

The first two track are already popular and the third one is slowly catching up. So all those who love those mushy soft romantic songs this is the album for you.

Movie review - GRUDGE

Don't watch this movie alone for god's sake and that too night show.
Or if u r brave enough then this is the movie for u to show off u r bravery and venture out in the 9 pm Show.

I sometimes think japanese make the most unsettling horror films, and here is exhibit one. This remake of Shimizu's series of Japanese films deals with an overused and trite movie plot. A caregiver living in Japan discovers a series of restless spirits at a house where murder was committed. Shimizu knows he is not dealing with anything new, so he does what any intelligent person would have done: he forgets logic, plot and characterizations and concentrates in giving his movie a reason for its existence. You know the standard clichés: people hear strange noises, objects seem to be moving on their own, etc. Shimizu plays with these concepts and to some extent succeeds in presenting them as if there were created specifically for the movie. The nonlinear plot is not a gimmick, but an interesting way to present the story from different perspectives. At the end, all I can say is that if the only purpose of a horror film is to scare the audience (the same way a comedy is to make people laugh), this movie succeeded with flying colors - one had to see how the audience went berserk over this one.
it is one of the best horror movie next to evil dead far better as compared to kaal , bhoot or any other bollywood horror movie
The first scene is enough to freak u out .

Five things to do if u r going to watch grudge:

Bring with u as many friends as possible preferably two or more.
Take u r cell phone with u so in case u r completely freaked out like me maybe u can read sms or play games on u r mobile phone.
Do not bring any popcorn or snacks as there is a possiblity that u may be so freaked out that u may bite u r fingers up.
If u feel that u had enough then it will be best to go out of theatre rather than staying and putting u r head down trying to avoid seeing as the sound is enough to freak u out.
Go to a nice calm place having a lot of sunshine around to let off the mental hangover as the film certainly makes u feel things around and u feel the grudge following u everywhere u go.

Five things to watch out for in the Movie:

Film's Storyline although there is nothing much to tell but the narration and the way in which the plot is uncovered is awesome.Superb soundeffect supported by superb cinematography .
Film's Start and the Climax enough to freak u for next couple of days
Spine-Chilling & Bone-Cracking screams and shrills.

I hope the movie lives upto the expectations of the book. Harry Potter has always been the fascination of teenagers and even adults besides children, right from the first book when it was released till the latest book "The Half Blood Prince".

Things which really fascinates me is the "Hogwarts School of WItchcraft, Hermoine's diligent attitude regarding studies, Friendship between Harry, Ron & Hermoine, Quidditch and lastly the whole spells of Magic and Witch craft". One gets so engrossed in Witchworld that one finds it hard to return to Muggle world . I wish, I was studying in a school like that, I wish, I had a friend like Hermoine who would help me out doing my homework and always be there when I need her the most. These are the things which one always wish while reading Harry potter books and the way the characters are sketched , Kudos for J.K.Rowling for carving out such a brilliant masterpiece.
I think the way the story has fetched so far in the latest Book HBP leaves room for atleast two books lets see, but now Lets see how this movie shapes up . Looking forward for its release . Anybody with Preview passes?
